It’s been over a week now since I’ve left Canada. My first week was spent at K Lodge off the pacific coast of El Salvador. It’s a little more isolated then the rest of the hostels but it was perfect to get into the life of a backpacker. I can’t explain the feeling of not having a job at all and being in a beautiful country. It was great to catch up with my friend that I met last year when I was here. The locals are unbelievable nice here and you couldn’t ask for anything better. 

I spent the first day in the city so the grocery shopping at the fresh markets could be done. I would love to be able to go to a  fresh market everyday if I could. Local buses are so cheap here and very easy to take. We ate at a cute little cafe for my first authenic meal. Time to start to eat a lot of rice, beans, tortillas and fresh veggies and fruit. Finally ocean time which is so warm here . I’ve been swimming a few times already and have even take a surf board out a couple times. I may not be very good but I figure by the end of my trip I hopefully will be able to catch a few good waves. For the past week most of my time was mainly spent staring at the ocean and laying in a hammock. That’s my life right now. I have met a awesome couple from Australia already as well and will hopefully be staying in contact. 

I have moved over to a different hostel now in El Zonte area. Escenia Nativa is a great hostel to stay at. This is where I met a couple locals last year and my friend from Vancouver. Her and I have reunited here again. This place is just like a small community of a mix of foreigners and locals. Everyone talks to everyone like they’ve known each other for years. We will chill out during the day and then all end up a few hostels down for beers and to watch the amazing sunset. That’s the normal routine here. I can’t even count the amount of people I have meant already. I feel at home here 100%. Main reason I love to travel is because people really understand you and are usually doing the same thing as you. A lot of people thought I was crazy for quitting my job and putting my stuff in storage but here that’s just a normal thing. Everyone is wanting to experience something more. El \salvador is not a scary place if you don’t make it out to be that way. Its amazing and people are amazing. Many people back home are missing out on a great place to experience and enjoy a different culture. 

I will probably renting a house with my friend if we can find one because that’s how much I love it here. Well it’s time to go enjoy the sunshine and maybe go paddle out on a board. Until next time…

The day is almost here to start my new adventure- my new start for 2014. It only seems like a couple weeks ago when I first decided that I needed a change and to do something I really wanted to do in life. Yes most people will say I have traveled to many different places already but to me I haven’t seen enough of what else the world has to offer.

Finally a few weeks ago I got the courage to make the first step in my adventure. As of last week I am now jobless and well as of Saturday technically speaking homeless too. To me a couple weeks of holidays a year wasn’t enough and it’s time for way longer journey.

In 12 hours I will be on a plane on my way to El Salvador for my first stop. All I want to do at this point is be a surf bum for awhile. Time to ride the waves and just have a relaxing time. Well I guess with that said I better get my one single bag packed and ready to go.
